Job Description

 

The Quality Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of quality assurance and control within our aerospace manufacturing operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The Quality Manager will lead a team of quality professionals, implement robust quality management systems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS): Maintain the company's Quality Management System in accordance with industry standards (AS9100, ISO 9001). Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of quality inspectors and engineers. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure effective performance and professional development.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee quality assurance processes including inspection, testing, and validation of materials and finished products. Ensure that all products meet required specifications and standards before delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and increase operational efficiency. Utilize industry standard methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues with customers. Address and resolve any quality concerns or complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Supplier Interaction: Communicate with suppliers any non-conforming issues following through with Root Cause / Corrective Actions as needed. Work in parallel with Amco Engineering and Suppliers to help solve any processing related issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive quality records and documentation. Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Audits and Inspections: Manage and conduct internal and external audits. Ensure that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and monitored effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Ensure that all products and processes adhere to applicable aerospace industry regulations and safety standards.
  • NIST 800-171 and CMMC: Work closely with Information Technology (IT) department and Senior Management during upcoming development and implementation of NIST 800-171 and CMMC maturity plan. Report progress to customers as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is preferred; however, extensive relevant experience in quality management within the aerospace or manufacturing industry will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality and/or quality management within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100).
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a quality team, with a track record of driving process improvements and achieving quality objectives.
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171 and CMMC requirements a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems. Familiarity with statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making is preferred.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle parts. Typical machining plant environment with some at machine measuring or analysis of parts being produced.. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. AMCO currently operates in three buildings so some movement between facilities may be required.
