Coordinate direct activities and individuals involved with inquiring, procuring, and expediting parts for aero derivative industrial gas turbines and power turbines. This will include sourcing both raw materials like forgings, castings etc. and machining for assembly pick level parts. Working manager position, alongside buyers to coach and ensure tactical success.Primary Duties & Responsibilities
· Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead buyers
· Leadership of a team of buyers for engine parts for FT8 and FT4000 Programs
· Good business decision making skills and business experience to support strategy
· Vendor identification / development / consolidation for competitive pricing
· Ensuring team compliance with Procurement Manual and standard work
· Ownership of order execution and part delivery commitment
· Collaboration with Program office, Finance, Engineering, Quality and Operations
· Leadership of cross functional teams in support of cost, quality, and delivery metrics
· Authorization of all orders placed in SAP in accordance with Management approval
Other Duties & Responsibilities
· Problem solving and building efficient working relationships across many functional groups such as; Quality, Materials, Production Planning, Engineering, and multiple suppliers.
· Responsible for all aspects of supplier relationships, including delivery, quality, performance, cost, and inventory management
· Oversee purchase order execution and product delivery, ensuring placement of on-time purchase orders, termination mitigations and cost reduction goals execution.
· Participate in proactive team efforts and leadership to achieve goals and objectives (company wide, departmental, and individual)
· Contribute to building a positive team spirit
· Communicate effectively with subordinates, peers and management at all levels
· Travel is 30% - 40%, primarily domestic, but also international, depending on suppliers
Knowledge, Skills, and Education
To be successful, the candidate must be familiar with industrial aero derivative gas turbines. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.
· Education: Bachelor's degree. Engineering Degree Preferred.
· Experience: 8 – 12 yrs working with aerospace suppliers. Procurement of gas turbine parts (i.e. blades, vanes, disks, shafts, etc.). Supervisory experience preferred. Familiarization with PWA Specs preferred.
· Technical Skills: Ability to; read analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and engineering specifications. Understand supplier capabilities and qualifications, recognize major part categories, and facilitate technical discussions with engineering and quality.
· Communication Skills: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from direct reports / other employees.
· Computer Skills: Advanced MS Excel skills and strong SAP experience is a must. Our SAP instance is largely based on P&W.
